Use Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products

One of the best things you can do to keep your family safe is to eliminate toxic cleaning products from your home. Most of us don't give much thought to the products we buy, but many of these can be very harmful. It's simple to clean your home with non-toxic products if you know what to look for. Here are some simple changes you can make to keep your home safer and cleaner:

  • Switch to an Ammonia-free glass cleaner. Glass cleaner is a great multipurpose product. It gets windows and mirrors clean, but can be used to clean bathroom and kitchen countertops and stainless steel appliances, too. Most traditional glass cleaners contain ammonia, which is irritating to the skin and can cause respiratory problems when inhaled. It's easy to find ammonia free glass cleaners if you take the time to look when you shop. These are much safer and get your surfaces just as clean.

  • Choose Non-Toxic multi-purpose cleaners. Multi-purpose cleaners are often used on stovetops and countertops… which are also the same places we prepare food. For this reason, it's important that the cleaners effectively clean the surface, and is just as important (if not more) that they are non-toxic and non-hazardous. Therefore, be certain to choose products that are labeled as either ‘non-toxic.’

  • Avoid alcohol products. Many cleaning products contain alcohol, which has been known to cause skin irritation and respiratory concerns.

Ultimately, there are many alternative cleaning products that will keep your home as clean as ever without causing you to worry about your family's safety.
